8 pulgadas Dual Subwoofer coche

Key Factors to Consider When Choosing 8-Inch Dual Voice Coil Car Subwoofers

If you have a stereo system in your house or car, you are at least somewhat familiar with what speakers do. Many people enjoy the bass sounds that are associated with their music and want to make sure that it can be heard loud and clear. A subwoofer, when installed properly, can give you that deep sound you want from your car stereo.

What is a car subwoofer?

A car subwoofer is a complete audio loudspeaker that reproduces low-pitched audio frequencies known as bass and sub-bass. A frequency range for a subwoofer is typically about 20 to 200 Hz. Car subwoofers are intended to bring out the low-frequency range of loudspeakers that typically cover high-frequency bands.

What are single-coil and dual-coil subwoofers?

The number of coils affects a subwoofer’s power-handling ability. In addition, a single-coil offers one method of setting up your car’s subwoofer. Meanwhile, a dual-coil subwoofer provides more than one wiring option:

  • Parallel: With the coils wired in parallel, a dual 4-ohm voice coil subwoofer sends a 2-ohm load to your amplifier. An amplifier produces more wattage at lower impedance. Thus, a parallel connection gives you the most output from your amp.
  • Series: With series wiring, you can configure multiple woofers to one amp with acceptable impedance. You can also wire both coils in series and get 8-ohm impedance. Another way is to wire two 8-ohm subwoofers together in parallel for a total of 4-ohm impedance. Additionally, with a high-powered, 2-channel amp, you can wire four, 8-ohm subs per channel.
  • Independent: Wire each voice coil to a separate channel of your amp. Independent wiring is an option if you're wiring two DVC subs to a 4-channel amplifier at one voice coil per channel. Make sure the signal going to each coil is exactly the same. Otherwise, the differences will cause sound distortion.
How do you install a car subwoofer properly?
  • Step 1: Gather parts and tools, which should be listed in the users' manual that comes with your subwoofer.
  • Step 2: Run the wires from the battery to the stereo and from the trunk to the stereo.
  • Step 3: Look on the back of the unit. There should be two RCA connections. Plug the RCA connections into the connections on the back of the stereo. If no connections are there, splice the wires to the rear speaker wires.
  • Step 4: Wire the 16- to 18-gauge wire to the blue wire labeled "Amp."
  • Step 5: Put the speaker in the box.
  • Step 6: Connect the power cable from the battery to the amp. Connect the 16- to 18-gauge wire. Connect the other end of the ground wire to a nearby bolt connected to the body of the car. Connect the speaker wire to the positive (+) and negative (–) marked for speakers on the amp. Connect the other end of the speaker wire to the + and – on the speaker box.
  • Step 7: Connect the power cable to the battery.
