BMW Z3 Exterior Door Handles
BMW began production of the Z3 in 1995 and premiered the Roadster model for the 1996 model year, and by 2000, the Coupe was introduced. The Z3 remained on the market until 2002 with those two basic models: the Roadster and the Coupe. Is a 1996 compatible with a 2002 exterior door handle?While the body styles are different between the Z3 Roadster and the Coupe, BMW maintained a constant with interchangeable exterior parts, such as door handles. Even with the the major trim change created for the 2000 model year car door configuration, the handles on the passenger doors of the 1996 are compatible with those of the 2002 door parts and every model in between.
Are the handles interchangeable between doors?Each door within each model year requires its own unique handle. The part that is required for the left car door is a separate part number from the right door, and the exterior hatchback is separate from the two passenger doors. It is advisable to also replace the gasket when changing out the door handle.
Are the BMW Z3 door handles paintable?The black portion of each piece is actually a primer, or base coating, that allows them to be painted to match the existing paint color on your car.
