How do you replace car door handles?
  1. Disconnect the cars battery. Youll find it near the rear of the engine compartment near the passenger side. Loosen the nut and pull the battery cable off its terminal.
  2. Open up the car door that youll be working on. Pry out the square clip on the interior door lock with a flat-head screwdriver. Pry off the panel thats under the hand rest as well as the small panel thats right behind the interior door handle.
  3. Remove the door panel where the power lock controls would be, and pry out the triangle thats on the other side of the exterior window. Remove the bolts that you have just gained access to.
  4. Release the plastic clips that have been placed around the car door trim. You can use a screwdriver for greater leverage, but be sure to use a rag to protect the paint of your car.
  5. Pull the entire panel away from the door, and pull the water shield back. The exterior door handle will be held on by three 10-millimeter bolts. Use a socket wrench to remove them.
  6. Go to the exterior of the door. Pull out and twist up the handle of the door so that it can disengage from the rod.
  7. Put the new exterior handle on the latch rod and twist the handle into place. Attach it using the 10-millimeter bolts.
  8. Put the doors water shield back in place and reinstall the panel using the clips. A small push on the interior panel may be necessary to get it into the right position.
  9. Reattach all of the bolts that connect the door components together. Attach any other parts, such as the armrest and interior handle, that you may have taken off.
