Car & Truck Exterior Door Handles for Suzuki Samurai

A critical feature of any car is its ability to have functioning doors. Without high-quality door handles, opening and closing your car doors and securing them appropriately would be inconvenient and nearly impossible. There are many options for exterior door handles for the Suzuki Samurai, but there are some key features of these parts that you should consider when purchasing replacements.

What should you look for in exterior door handles?

There are three common materials used in exterior door handles, each having distinct features that make them good choices. There is also a fourth integrated material that is becoming more commonly used.

  • Stainless steel: A material often used for exterior handles is stainless steel. This is a tough, durable material that will not rust or degrade over time. Most Suzuki door handles are made from steel.
  • Chrome: If you are looking for high-end door handles, then chrome is a good option. These door handles are flashy and offer rust and wear resistance.
  • Plastic: If you do not need anything too fancy, then plastic handles are a great choice. These perform well in all conditions.
  • Electronic, key-less materials: Future-thinking car models have started to adopt electronic material integration into the two materials above. This allows the car door to not include an exterior locking mechanism, as you can unlock your car when you are in close proximity. It also allows for door parts to hide on the side of the exterior body of the car until you are nearby.
How do you paint door handles?

Changing the color of your door handles is fairly simple. There are a few steps you should follow.

  • Clean the door handles. You do not want anything sticking to the parts in order to avoid peeling paint.
  • Sand them down to get a bit of grit if you are using plastic handles. If you are using steel, you do not have to sand them.
  • Cover the surrounding areas of your car with masking tape or something else to block the paint.
  • Use an oil-based spray primer to get your parts ready for the paint. Let the primer cure and then move on to spraying.
  • Spray with your colored oil-based enamel. This can be any color you want, whether black, red, grey, or anything in between. Black tends to go well as a door part color with most cars and styles. Let the exterior parts sit for eight hours before using.
