Luces de conducción y Niebla para GMC Yukon

GMC Yukon Car & Truck Fog Driving Lights

On the GMC Yukon truck, fog lights work differently from regular headlights by projecting a flat, wide beam of light lower on the ground. Fog lights are a separate fixture from the regular driving headlights and are located on the lower front bumper. There are many reasons why the fog driving lights may stop working, but most problems can be fixed with a new LED light bulb or consider lamp kits to replace the entire fitting.

How do you replace a GMC Yukon fog light bulb?

Before changing the bulb, make sure the vehicle is parked securely and will not roll or be moved.

  • Reach underneath the front and disconnect the wire that plugs into the back of the lighting. There are tabs on the wire that are depressed in order to release the wire from the bulb.
  • Pull out the connecting wire. The bulb should be attached to the end.
  • Remove the old bulb and press in the new LED fog-light bulb. Do not touch the actual glass part, just handle the plastic bottom. Fingerprints may cause an early burn-out.
  • It is a good idea to change both bulbs at the same time to help keep them on the same maintenance schedule.
How do you check a faulty fuse on fog lamps?

If a bad fuse is a reason your fog lights are not turning on, they are easy to check and change.

  • Locate the fuse box using the owner’s manual. Fuse boxes are located inside the car on the driver’s side and underneath the hood.
  • Remove the fuse box lid. Using the owner’s manual, find the position and amp of the fuse. For example, position 28 15A, which means the 15-amp fuse.
  • Study the diagram on the lid of the fuse box to locate the position. For our example, position 28. Using a pair of needle nose pliers, pull out the fog light fuse. If the fuse is bad, the wire in the center will be broken.
  • Insert an identical new fuse in the correct position, making sure to match the color and amps exactly. Installing the wrong fuse can cause damage to the vehicle.
  • Replace the fuse box cover and test the fog lights.
What is the difference between HID and LED fog lights?

High-intensity discharge or HID produces an intensely bright light compared to other bulbs. The bright light has been described as a glare to some oncoming drivers. HID fog-light bulbs have a lifespan of approximately 2,000 hours.

LEDs offer good lighting without the ultra brightness of HID, and last 50,000 hours. If the fog lights were on for two hours each day, the lamp would last 11 years. If you need intense light for dark roads, HID fog lights maybe the more appropriate choice, but for most average driving, LED fog lights are practical.

Halogen lamps, however, are the most used light fixture. These bulbs last about 450 to 1,000 hours.
