Stay Productive With a Backup Fujitsu Power Adapter or Charger
Getting a new laptop charger or power adapter can be useful for both replacing a malfunctioning cord or just having a backup to prevent downtime or to use at another location. Regardless of the reason that you want a new charger or power adapter, knowing the information about your laptop or Lifebook, like model number and technical specifications makes it possible to find replacements like the ones that Fujitsu makes that are compatible with your device.
How are power adapters rated?Laptop and other computing devices operate using different levels of volts, amps, and watts. If the power supply doesn't meet the specifications closely enough, then it could cause damage to the computer's internal components. Laptop AC adapters come listed with ratings that tell you these important specifications so that you can get the right cord for your device. The specifications to consider when looking for a new adapter are:
- Output volts: This is the most important of the specifications, and must be within half a volt of what your computer requires. For instance, if your laptop needs 19V of input voltage, the power adapter should supply 18.5 to 19.5 volts in order to work properly with the computer.
- Output amps: Laptops like the Lifebook have a minimum number of amps required to function properly. The power cord should be able to at least meet the needs of the laptop. However, having excess amps can be beneficial because the adapter won't have to work as hard to meet the needs of the laptop and also have a lower operating temperature. This is good because the hotter an adapter gets, the more susceptible to damage it becomes.
- Output watts: The output wattage of any power cord is a product of the volts and amps that it supplies. It is fine if this is higher than the requirements specified by your laptop but only if the voltage is within the acceptable range.
Finding the right charger for your computer is easy to do. Many replacement chargers are listed with a series of model numbers that they are compatible with. By comparing this list against the model number of your particular device, you can determine if the charger in question is compatible with your laptop. When looking for your model number, it is usually located on a sticker on the underside of the computer case but can sometimes be on the top where the keyboard is located.
