- Radial: Radial tires contain cord plies that are arranged at 90-degree angles to the direction of travel. These trailer tire models are relatively wide, and they last longer than other types of camper and RV tires.
- Bias-ply: The plies in bias-ply tired overlap each other in a crisscrossing formation. These tires are thinner than radial tires and slightly more maneuverable on the road. However, they are more susceptible to overheating than radial tires.
To install a new tire on your RV or motorhome, youll need to first remove the tire thats already on your travel trailer. If youre working on a travel trailer, secure the RV in place with wheel chocks, and if you have a motorhome, put it in park with the emergency brake engaged. Then, lift up the side of the camper with the tire that needs to be changed. You can accomplish this with a jack, or you can also roll the other tire on that side onto leveling blocks or some other object thats tall enough to give the camper tire that youre changing enough clearance. Then, undo the nuts holding the RVs tire in place and remove it from the axle. Put the new camper tire into position, and reattach the bolts with a torque wrench to complete installation of your new trailer tire.

To do so, youll need to take a look at one of the tires that are on your RV or travel trailer and record the series of large numbers and letters that are embossed on the outer edge.
