Windshield Wiper Systems for Toyota Corolla

The Corolla is a compact car manufactured by Toyota and has been in production since 1966. Since Toyota Corollas are on the streets around the world in all sorts of weather, the windshield wiper systems in these vehicles play an important role in clearing the Corollas windows of rain, sleet, snow, and other forms of precipitation. There are an array of replacement windshield wiper blades and other parts that can help restore your Corollas windshield wiper system and keep your vision clear.

How do you use the wipers on a Toyota Corolla?

The Toyota Corolla offers windshield wipers that are controlled by a control stalk on the right side of the steering wheel. This system allows you to operate front and rear wipers on your Corolla and set the speed and frequency of your windshield wipers operations.

  • Move the control stalk downwards: The first click down for the control stalk of your Toyota starts the intermittent operation of your wipers. Clicking it down once more starts the low-speed operation, and clicking it down a third time starts high-speed operation of the windshield wipers.
  • Use the interval adjuster: When you are using the intermittent selection, you can change the interval at which the wipers move using this adjuster. Moving the adjuster up increases the frequency and moving it down decreases the frequency of the wipers.
  • Temporarily use the wipers: Pushing the control stalk upward powers the wipers for as long as you hold it in place.
  • Use windshield washer fluid: Pull the control stalk towards you in order to dispense windshield washer liquid to the windshield. The wipers will automatically swipe a few times to clear the fluid.
How do you change the windshield wiper blades on a Toyota Corolla?

Because windshield wiper blades remove rain, sleet, snow, and other grime from the windows, it’s important that they are in good working order. After extensive use, the wiper blades may wear out and require replacement. There are a wide range of replacement wiper blades on the market from a number of manufacturers. You can tell its time to replace the wiper blades when they no longer remove water or grime. When selecting wiper blades, make sure to choose the right size for your model year.

  • Remove the old blade: Begin on the drivers side, and you will find that the blades are clipped into place. You can push the clip up toward the wiper arm to release it. Push the blade backwards to slide it down and away from the vehicle. When the hook of the blade is entirely visible, it can be freely removed.
  • Position the new wiper blade: Hold the wiper blade so that the hook points toward the wiper attachment and then place the hook over the top of the attachment.
  • Lock the new blade in place: Pull the blade down in the direction of the end of the wiper arm. The blade will give an audible click when it is locked into place.
